About us

~~~ Our mission ~~~
- Supporting groups and organizations helping children and local communities to overcome problems in their lives, and providing information on them to people in Ireland.
- Encouraging both Japanese and Irish people through unique activities and events.
We are a group of Japanese and Irish volunteers based in Dublin. We started Aid Japan for Children with the intention of raising funds to assist charities working to provide relief to earthquake victims in Japan, particularly children.
Following any disaster, we are always presented with news footage of lives lost, and material devastation. These truly awful and heart-rending scenes present needs that must be met at the earliest opportunity. However, the effects of such disasters extend beyond what we can call the hardware of our society - buildings, bridges and material things. The shock and trauma of these events can resurface later with severe implications for the hearts and minds of victims - the software of society. People who are affected by this often find it difficult to lead normal lives. This is particularly the case with children. Following the earthquake and tsunami, Japan received much welcome assistance from countries throughout the world, including Ireland. Thanks to this there has been much progress. At the same time though, there remain the deep scars left on the minds and hearts of children which we wish to address through our efforts.
With the hope of further relieving the suffering of the children, we want to carry out fund raising activities in the Dublin area. All profits from these events will go to charities assisting children recover from the effects of the Japanese disaster. Details will be posted on our Events page. We will post information on all charities we support on our Support page.
